Prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey through the southern regions of Morocco, beginning with the crossing of the majestic Atlas Mountains. As you travel, observe the diverse and changing landscapes—from rugged mountains and flowing rivers to lush oases—until you reach the vast Sahara Desert in Merzouga.
Over four days, you will explore the hidden Berber villages nestled in the mountains and the desert, immersing yourself in the rich cultural heritage and stunning natural beauty of this remarkable region.
Your place of accommodation.
Begin your journey in the vibrant city of Marrakech and set out to explore the southern regions of Morocco. After enjoying a traditional breakfast at your riad, your driver will take you through the scenic High Atlas Mountains, reaching elevations over 2000 meters for breathtaking panoramic views. You will have ample time to visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, where you will also stop for lunch. Continuing along the route, you will pass through Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco.” Later, you will proceed to Boumalne Dades to marvel at the unique geological formations known as the “Monkey Toes.” Your day will conclude with dinner and an overnight stay at a traditional guest house.
As the sun rises and after breakfast, you will continue your journey further south, enjoying views of oases filled with palm, fig, and almond trees. You will encounter ancient medieval methods of water management, known as khettaras, which are underground irrigation systems that channel water from the mountains. By early evening, you will arrive at the majestic Merzouga Desert. Here, you will embark on a camel ride to your camp, witnessing a breathtaking sunset along the way, while your driver transports your luggage. Dinner will be served at your camp, allowing you to marvel at the Milky Way and the stars.
Shortly before sunrise, find a spot to admire the breathtaking sunrise, which brings a sense of renewal and peace. After enjoying an open-air breakfast, you can choose to either ride back on camels or be picked up by your driver. The journey continues to the Draa River, the longest river and lifeline for the Sahara and its nomadic tribes. Lunch will be at the historic Kasbah Oulad Othman. By evening, you will reach the edge of Morocco’s largest palm oasis, offering a perfect panoramic view. Dinner will be served at your authentic riad.
The journey concludes with a breakfast on the terrace. Afterwards, the trip resumes as you drive back through the Anti-Atlas, a range of volcanic rock mountains featuring striking geological formations. You will have the opportunity to visit Atlas Studios in Ouarzazate, where many famous films and TV series, including Game of Thrones and Gladiator, were filmed. The route then takes you back through the High Atlas, ultimately returning to your riad or the airport.

My trip with your team in September 2018 was wonderful. Everything was perfect, the nigh in desert, nice clean accomodation and the varied and delicious food.
Good luck Lhoussin Prince.
